Today I’m 49

Wow. Thoughts as I begin my 49th year on earth – you know, the year before the big 5-0.

Aging is not a thing that worries me at all. Not much worries me, truth be told. I don’t know if I’ve always been this easy-going. The way I see it is worry is something that robs me of joy and strength and a sound mind. It’s saying to God that I don’t trust Him in the details of my life.

I wonder what new things I’ll learn and do in the next ten years? The last nine years have focused on music a lot. That will continue simply because I enjoy it and it is something that can be shared with others for their enjoyment.

I want to begin the photo-a-day because photography is something I used to spend more time doing. Ray says, before I picked up the clarinet again. In 1994 Ray and I went to Yosemite National Park in May and The Grand Canyon National Park in October. We hauled big, heavy packs loaded with medium format cameras and lenses and slide film as well as 35 mm cameras and lenses and don’t forget the tripods. Now our cameras are digital and my little Nikon is no bigger than my Blackberry phone. I still have a tripod in the trunk of my car if needed.

I hope that my picture a day will be just a glimpse into my life. Sometimes it will include me or people that I know. I will tell short stories sometimes. I’m looking forward to what the year ahead brings.

So, join me on my journey! It won’t be boring.
